ES Moodle Urgent Server/System Upgrade
As discussed with the Chief and Deputy Chief of Educational Services, please be advised there will be unscheduled system maintenance undertaken on the server that Educational houses Moodle and our website. This is due to the urgent need to upgrade the PHP version (v3.11+ of Moodle which we run can’t run higher than the version of PHP we have running now.
As a rseult, Moodle itself will also be upgraded to either version 4 or version 5. We had not wanted to upgrade before we were ready with instructions, branding and so forth, however, these server updates serve an urgent need due to security vunrabilties on the server which also needs its Operating System updated but can’t without the PHP being upgraded as well (multi vaccited domino effect).
While we usually and prefer to give plenty of notice, the DS&T staff best able to assist us with this and the time needed to do it in a block rather than many smaller chunks is now. We apologise for any inconvience this will cause.
