SUMMARY:STARFLEET Medical Reading Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Our new Reading Challenge will be starting on March 1st! Please join the STARFLEET Medical Reading Challenge Facebook Group. You must answer the questions to join per STARFLEET regulations. You will not be permitted to join if you do not answer the questions.\n  \nWith that little bit of business out of the way…..all files will be added to the group soon.\n  \nThe Challenge is simple\, you just read. Read whatever you want\, as much or as little as you like\, any genre\, any age. You will fill out the excel document that will be in files with your name\, SCC number\, ship name\, region\, book title\, author\, and pages read. At the end of the month\, you will simply email the form to medicalr04asg@sfi.org. Certificates will be awarded to everyone who participates. There will also be monthly awards for the most read per person\, per ship\, and per region.\n  \nThere will occasionally be monthly challenges\, for instance\, this month we may give double pages read for Star Trek books\, or Sci Fi\, or historical…etc. Always\, any STARFLEET manual will be double pages scored.\n  \nI am sure there will be kinks to work out\, and I appreciate your patience as we begin this new Challenge. DESCRIPTION:“Astrophotography: Yes\, You Can!!”\nGuest Speaker: Commodore Mike Calhoun\, Director of STARFLEET Sciences \nJoin Mike for an introduction to beginning astrophotography. What is it? Do you need to hack NASA\, ESA\, Hubble\, or JWST? What do you need to get started? Come along and learn a brief history of stellar imaging\, the differences between lunar\, planetary\, and deep sky photography\, and just how deep the rabbit hole goes. Hint: if you get your kids interested\, they’ll never have money for [insert illicit substance/beverage here]. Seriously though: astrophotography hobbyist Mike Calhoun will give a brief description of the above and then answer your questions to the best of his ability about how to get images like these in a light polluted\, suburban night sky. \nThe Sol Speaker Series features guest presenters who will cover a wide range of inspiring and informative topics on space\, astronomy\, astrophotography\, the Artemis mission\, stargazing\, and tons more! These events are presented via Zoom beginning at 7 pm EST/EDT and includes a 45-minute talk followed by a Q and A session.
